We may have a PS3 part-time. Basically, I found another pair of people in their own groups that I know going to Otakon. One of 'em does have a PS3, so. I'll probably bounce around a bit. Maybe we can rob hi-I MEAN, convince him to hang out in here for a while with it if we have PS3-focused gaming going on.

I emphasize again that we must be certain we'll use the PS3 for something first. If there's actually a game to play on it, great - otherwise it's a rather heavy and valuable hunk of plastic that shouldn't be lugged this way and that.

Trust me - I know. I used to take my PS2 to my anime club to be the primary DVD player and game player until I realized it was shortening its lifespan. I stopped in time, though.

As it is, I want the Wii treated like a delicate flower... and some whippersnapper kids almost manhandled my NES the other night. (shakes his old man cane impotently)

I'll be around all Friday. Just a bit unsure as to how much I owe, exactly, since adding another person so late is probably altering the final cost a little.

Okay, I'm going to call and cancel at the Radisson tommorrow, unless anyone has objections. Thanks again for riding to the rescue, Kain.

I'm not sure I'll be availible Sunday, I have something to do that day. But I'll do my best. If not, make plans without me and I'll adapt.

Bah, I wield the power of ROCK.

I would suggest 7pm Eastern as the appointed time, unless anyone has any objections?

You have all done well. Lord Vader is pleased. Soon you will be ready for the ultimate battle between otaku and baseball fans. Bring your lightsabers/staffs/whips/spatulas folks. We're going to need them.

Sunday on AIM sounds all right by me - anyone have a particular time in mind?

Further to my last post, I just rang off from the Holiday Inn and they said parking is $21 per night, at least until 3pm after the night in question, at which point they begin charging the hourly rate.  This means those of you who are planning to park at the hotel can expect to pay $63 plus a few dollars more if you stay past 3pm on Sunday (which is probably when most of those of us who are flying will need to begin making our way to BWI anyway), provided you can find space in either the garage or the open lot (I rather suspect the latter does not come highly recommended).  Whether or not this can be tacked onto the hotel bill I'm not sure, nor do I know if it will be necessary to arrive after a particular time on Thursday.

All right, let's shoot for some time on Sunday, via AIM.

After PLAY! I don't want to parking-hunt in Baltimore again.

Anyway, assuming I split costs with Kris, the question becomes 30some total for me vs. ~ $47 total for me... with $47 having the presumably quicker arrival time and not dragging luggage through whatever is left of the BCC concourse line.

Hmm. Does that seem worth $17 to anyone here?

As for the conference call, I expect everyone else's weekends are much like mine - final (or first) Otakon preparations. So this weekend's probably as good a time as any. Though the conference call should be done in the Gatherings subforum, or at least shouted out there... we need to bring Gid up to speed, and the conference call is probably the best one-stop shop for that.

I vote AIM, though. I do not want to finagle with other software we don't already all have for it.

Only 242 parking spaces for 375 rooms and two suites??  Something isn't right with those numbers.  Still, I'm sure space is at a premium in the Inner Harbour area (and in Baltimore in general), so they must work with what they're given.  At any rate, if someone doesn't beat me to it, I'll ring them later today to determine if parking over the weekend amounts to four or three days (I've stayed in hotels before where one is charged for the number of nights spent in the hotel rather than the number of days, but I can imagine that's not universal), but the small number of spaces does lead me to think that those who can leave their cars elsewhere should probably do so, irrespective of cost.

On a not unrelated note, some time in the relatively near future we may want to organise this conference call or other mass simultaneous communication we've discussed to finalise the, er, organisation side of this year's convention trip.  My calendar is quite literally completely clear between now and Thursday morning (being an academic has its perks, no question - among other things I've booked our rooms under the name "Dr. Smith" :)), so I'm happy with whatever time suits the other participants.
