Otakon 2008 / Re: Something we're watching while stranded at the BWI airport

I'm going to finish watching the kitty one to see if it'll help me feel better. I'm sooooooo sick, just like I always am following any convention. Stupid germs. ;_;
Yes, stupid germs, always putting their beach towels on the best poolside deck chairs at 6am and then going back to bed so that when I get to the pool at 10am there are no deck chairs left.... oh, sorry, I thought you said stupid Germans. (Kidding.  I don't really hate Germans; after all, Germany did give the world Bach, Handel, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Schumann, and Brahms among many others.  Not to mention Leibniz, Gauss, Dirichlet, Dedekind, Kummer, Eisenstein, Kronecker, Jacobi, Landau, Hasse, Heilbronn, Riemann, Weierstrass, Weyl, Schur.... well, you get the idea.)

Anyway, hope your traditional post-convention illness doesn't last long, Angela.  I suppose I should be relieved the only affliction I seem to have in the wake of this year's Grand Gathering is another flare-up of my seemingly permanent case of athlete's foot. :P I blame the hotel swimming pool.

Duckula was great, I could watch more of that. Just wanted to say that.

Remind me not to bother labeling my gear again... or to at least find a different method to do so. Even though they were barely adhesive labels and could be peeled off other things okay, peeling my labels off my Wii and gear left really nasty sticky material behind even though they pulled cleanly off. First on my Wii I worked the area with alcohol and it lessened the gunkiness somewhat but didn't get rid of it, until I finally did some digging and turned up my last few drops of Goo Gone. A teense of the Goo Gone finally made the area that had previously been sticky be as smooth and clear as the rest of the Wii surface. I used the remaining drops of Goo Gone on the label for the Classic Controller and on one of the nunchuks... I lucked out that the other nunchuk had had the label so badly attached that there really was no gunk left (in fact, the label barely counted as attached with the way it dangled).

Still, it's pretty awesome that Goo Gone did in half a second and barely a drop what a good handful of rubbing alcohol and several minutes of rubbing could not.

Aww... This looks cute.  I love cats, I actually wish if the financial situation at home wasn't so bad that we could get another.  Oh well I have three beautiful babies and I guess those kittes will have to be enough.

When bored, I used to scream the title of "Panda go Panda" at the top of my lungs in wildly inappropriate situations. I never did get around to actually watching the thing, though.

And yes. Yes, that is very, very cute. I feel like I should go brush my teeth now ;)

I think some of them do vary the prices for quad rooms, but only by $20-30 or so per room per night, so try specifying four people per room - after all, whatever our numbers, we will need two beds in each room. (On a related note, it was so nice sleeping in a proper bed again last night, and in a quiet room to boot - I slept for nearly twelve hours. :))

If you're talking about the Otakon 2009 hotels?

When I said 5+ people and got no search results I realized that none of the hotel rooms actually are for "5+ people." Change the number of people needing a room to 1 person and you'll see these prices:

Holiday Inn 150 a night
Hyatt 199 a night
Marriot 195 a night
Radisson 145 a night
Renaissance 195 a night

I don't think any of these hotels charge a different at-con price for quad rooms, but it's worth checking that also.

You may want to try phoning them rather than using the website; I don't have the slip of paper anymore, but according to the "Calls Made" list on my mobile, the number is 1-800-282-6632, and their hours are 8:30-5:30 Monday to Friday.  You may find you have more luck contacting them directly than you would have going through the website.
